Do i have to beat halo 3 to play xbox live?

Ok i beat hao 3 on normal a couple months ago. I did it on Co-Op . I just recently got a wireless router and i wanted to play online( ive done it at my friends house) so i went to match making and tried doing a big team social. But when i go to start matchmaking it says "one or more players do not have the maps" Whats that supposed to mean? I beat the game so shouldnt i have all the maps? What should i do i really dont wanna do campaign again.

Do i have to beat halo 3 to play xbox live?
There are downloadable maps
Reply:From the xbox dashboard, go left to the marketplace blade. Look for the New releases, then go to Game Add-ons. Scroll down to the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack. It has been a few months since they were available for download, so they have become free. You have to download these free maps to play Matchmaking online. The next set of maps are in the Legendary map pack, and that costs 800 microsoft points, and are necessary to play the new DLC playlist. or you could wait for them to become free, then you will have to download them to play matchmaking again.
Reply:There are downloadable maps that were released after the game came out. You are missing those. If you tried to join a game with other people you know who have these maps then this would cause your problem. Otherwise, if you don't have these maps you shouldn't be put into the same game as others who have them.

The downloadable maps cost 800 Microsoft points, which is $10.
Reply:ha well the maps they are talking about are the downloaded maps from xbox live...so someone in ur party may not have had the map...U don't need to do anything with the campaign, just make sure u download the maps from xbox live in the marketplace, and if u want to use those new maps u can only play with people who have them also
Reply:it means the player that u are trying to join doesnt have those map content it is how it sounds u half to purchase the maps with mp point (noob)
Reply:Negative, Ghost Rider.
