when in matchmaking and wim in the lobby with other players, i see some of them have a second emblem thing thats beside their gamertag its a gray type thing, kinda looks like half a sprocket. How do i get it?

no thats not it. you need to link your gamertag to a bungie profile. After it's linked go to edit profile and at the bottom it will give you the option of the "gear".
